The Wildling Within

So for my first post back in aaaages I had planned to write about the struggle of balancing my work/home/education life, which has basically been the reason I’ve not written recently. However, this weekend saw a pretty major development in our little family so that post will have to wait. My BIG news… M and I got engaged!! Sqeeeeee!! *massive grin*.

M popped the question so totally out of the blue that I didn’t know how to respond other than to first ask “are you kidding? This isn’t a joke?” Then stand there grinning like the Cheshire Cat haha. “Where did he pop the question? Was it romantic?” I hear you ask? Well let me tell you how it went down.

This weekend we’ve been in Wales with friends doing a spot of paddle boarding and a bit of sight seeing. After a day of paddling on Saturday, M and I decided to drive up into the hills around Bala and explore the forest. We’ve developed a bit of an old person driving habit recently, wanting to explore all the little roads people don’t generally drive and exploring ‘off the beaten track’, this comes from living in the stunning North Pennines. We’d bottomed out the car on a few very unsuitable tracks, backtracked a few times and explored a few different roads before we found a lovely clearing in the woods which serves as crossroads to a few of those more un-passable routes. Then it happened…

We realised all three children had fallen asleep! Major win!! We decided to get out of the car and enjoy the quiet. “I’m just going to look up here” says I heading for a bunch of trees that resembled a scene from the film Twilight (ya know the one where vampire dude is all shiny and stuff), “can I borrow you a minute first?” Says M. “Erm sure” says I, a little confused. I turn around and there’s M stood in the woodland clearing holding a box, “I’ve got something for you”. Cue confusion, excitement, bewilderment! I won’t embarrass M by detailing the speech, but let’s just say a lot of thought went into it! How well M knows me! He picked the forest (my fave place) to propose on the first day of Autumn (my fave season) and gave me a ring with leaves on it to reflect my love of nature. Oh, and had it made with ethical diamonds! What a guy!!

So guys, I will get around to writing that other post at some point soon, but this week I’m gonna just enjoy M teasing me with the new title of Fiancé. 💕
